Green Energy

Many lights contain mercury. This is problematic for two reasons. One, when a light breaks most organizations simply sweep up the area, but do not disinfect it. Second, many discard aged or broken light bulbs in the trash. Mercury vapor by nature is odorless, colorless, and very toxic. Even though liquid mercury evaporates slowly, a significant amount of mercury vapor can build up indoors after mercury is spilled, and it can be dangerous to breathe these mercury vapors. Disposal is rarely properly conducted, leading to further impact to the environment. It’s time to get GREEN with EnergyWare.

  • Only 10% of energy in a bulb is used to create light. Ninety percent of a light bulb’s energy creates heat.

  • LED stands for light emitting diode.
  • Rebate programs to incent customers to move to LED lightings are available in certain regions.
  • LED’s uses diodes to produce light. Other light bulbs create light using heat, which takes considerably more energy then diodes
  • LED’s are easier to dispose of because they contain no hazardous materials.
  • One LED can prevent about half of a ton of greenhouse emissions in its lifetime.
  • Replacement lighting really is affordable.
